      Hi! The largest accelerator I am working on is being built in Sweden. It’s called the European Spallation Source. It will have the longest proton accelerator in the world when it’s complete, over one km. We smash the protons into a cryogenically cooled tungsten block and create Neutrons through a process called spallation. Those neutrons then travel down other pipes to experimental stations where they are used to study new materials.
